Five safety precautions for using vacuum pumps, you must know!
1. Pay attention to personal safety
When installing a vacuum pump on site, in addition to paying attention to safety when operating the vacuum pump, you should also take some general precautions to ensure your health and personal safety in the working environment. Always wear appropriate clothing whether the machine is in operation or not. Also be sure to wear insulated gloves and a protective helmet when servicing the electric pump. If you work or 100% of the pumping station is related to sewage treatment, make sure to cover your wound with waterproof tape, no matter how small it is, otherwise it may be caused by direct contact with sewage, infection through wounds or eye and mouth membranes, and you may be infected with serious viruses , if you are injured at the scene, you should immediately wrap it with a waterproof, sterilized, cotton bandage, please see the following points.
Precautions:
- 1. During the operation of the experiment, the operator must not carry electronic products.
- 2. Experimental operators need to wear vacuum equipment operating gloves to operate, and cannot directly touch the vacuum equipment.
- 3. Vacuum pump equipment accessories should be stored in a dry box and kept away from corrosive chemical gases or liquids.
- 4. The vacuum pump equipment needs to be wiped regularly, and it should be cleaned with dust-free paper or dust-free cloth with alcohol or acetone.
- 5. The laboratory should maintain a certain degree of dryness. Experimental operators should check the humidity and temperature of the laboratory every day.
- 6. The laboratory should be well ventilated to avoid the influence of mechanical vacuum pump oil and gas.
- 7. The operator should pay attention to the temperature of the pump used in the vacuum equipment, so as not to shorten the life of the instrument due to overheating.
- 8. The operator should put in nitrogen or liquid nitrogen after the molecular pump speed drops below the safety line.
- 9. The operator should pay close attention to the loss degree of the power interface of the high-pressure pump to prevent the operator from electric shock and ensure safety.
- 10. When the experimenter is operating, he should strictly follow the operation steps of each vacuum equipment to switch the valve to prevent back pumping caused by the difference in air pressure.
- 11. Do not conduct experiments when the alarm bell sounds, and immediately notify the laboratory director and maintenance personnel to check.
- 12. In case of special circumstances, immediately inform all those present to leave quickly and cut off the power supply of the vacuum equipment.
2. Pay attention to ventilation
Pump experts know that pumps need to be vented to keep the body from overheating. Therefore, the location where the pump is installed must ensure adequate ventilation and prevent the risk of fire. This means that all pump types, except submersible pumps, must be installed at least three feet away from walls and other equipment. In addition, the exhaust gas from the water pump contains CO, a poisonous and odorless gas that is a by-product of unhealthy chemical reactions. Engines that typically use fuel release CO, so fuel pumps can be a safety hazard in the most confined spaces. Therefore, it is important to ensure that all fuel pumps are in an open space with adequate ventilation.
3. Pay attention to overheating
Always check the filter screen of the suction port to ensure that it is not blocked, so as to eliminate the safety problem of the pump and prolong its service life. Make sure the pump has enough air flow to keep the engine cool, however, some vacuum pumps also have a tendency to overheat from time to time without any immediate cause. In this case, all the pump operator has to do is shut down immediately and allow the pump to cool down. Direct contact with an overheated pump may result in severe burns or scalds, so it must be kept away from an overheated pump until it cools to room temperature. Cooling time depends on pump size and temperature, sometimes as long as 2-3 hours. The operator can only open the drain plug after confirming that the water pump has been completely cooled. Under no circumstances should the cover, gauge plug, filler cap or drain plug be removed when the pump is overheated. These actions not only endanger the operator himself, but also endanger others around him.
4. Pump type
Different types of pumps present different safety hazards. Therefore, you must be clear about the specific conditions of the pump you are operating, operating precautions, etc., especially for new employees, if you are uncertain about any aspect, you should consult first to further confirm the pump type.
5. Vacuum pump motor
The motor-driven pump must be properly grounded to reduce the risk of electric shock to employees. If the installation method is not correct, the pump may be short-circuited. It is the responsibility of the vacuum pump station staff to ensure that all electrical installations comply with national and local electrical regulations.
Vacuum pumps must be installed correctly. Different regions have different requirements for line grounding. It is as important as hiring qualified employees to operate all motor-driven pumps. Before repairing motor-driven pumps, it is necessary to ensure that relevant circuits are cut off. For the same reason, if The line tripped during the motor operation, be sure to ask a professional electrician to check and solve this problem, and then restarting the vacuum pump.
The above five points are the safety precautions for vacuum pump products. On-site personnel must be careful and careful in installation and handling.
